Silent Hill Townfall New Game Plus explained

After completing Silent Hill Townfall for the first time, you'll be able to replay the game in New Game Plus. This game mode comes with a couple of new items, and is also an opportunity for you to unlock some new, 'for fun' endings for the game. Below, you'll find everything you need to know about Silent Hill Townfall's New Game Plus and what to expect from it.

As you might've expected from a page about New Game Plus, the below guide contains spoilers for Silent Hill Townfall; proceed with caution!

Silent Hill Townfall New Game Plus explained

When starting New Game Plus in Silent Hill Townfall, there are a few things to be aware of before diving in:

  • There are no new difficulty options.
  • Your inventory is completely reset.
  • Collectible progress is tracked throughout playthroughs. For example, any Strange Postcards you have already found won't be present, but you can find ones you've missed. Documents and Clues are all present, but you don't need to go out of your way to grab ones you've already found and add them to your stats (unless they're necessary for a puzzle).

On top of that, there are a few new items, outfits, and endings to be aware of that I'll run through how to get below:

  • New outfits for Zoe and Richard.
  • A new one-hit-kill melee weapon for Simon and Zoe, the Axe.
  • Two new 'for fun' endings exclusive to NG+. These are the Dog ending and Sci-fi-lent Hill ending.

Below, you'll find how to equip new outfits, where to find the Axe for both Zoe and Simon, and how to get both NG+ endings.

New Game Plus outfits and Axe melee weapon

After completing the game at least once on any difficulty, you'll also unlock two new outfits that can be used in New Game Plus:

  • Zoe's Alternate Outfit
  • Richard's Alternate Outfit

The Alternate Outfits can both be equipped via your Game Options.

As for the Axe, this is a melee weapon that both Simon and Zoe can find and use during Part 1 and 2 of the game. Once you collect this weapon, you'll also be able to keep it throughout the rest of your New Game Plus run. It doesn't have a durability meter either, so this is a reliable, powerful melee weapon that you can use instead of breakable Planks and Pipes. Certainly makes subsequent runs easier!

As for exactly where you'll find the weapon for both Simon and Zoe, this is detailed below!

Simon Axe location

After the flare goes off in St. Amelia at the beginning of the game, you're prompted to walk down a path with an iron fence covered in 'for sale' signs on your right.

Rather than going up the staircase on your left as you walk down this path, continue past the signs and straight, through the white wooden gate pictured below. Go up the staircase ahead of this and enter the fifth door on the right; the Axe is on the table here.

If you come back here after achieving the Sci-fi-lent Hill ending and enter the second door on the right, you'll be able to unlock the Pistol 3000.

Zoe Axe location

At the very beginning of Part 2 where Zoe is prompted to go to Mr. Stewart's house on Church Avenue, you'll enter the back garden for No. 12 before going through the broken fence and into Mr. Stewart's back garden. The Axe can be found leaning against the door of the garden shed in No. 12.

New Game Plus endings

New Game Plus also features two new, 'for fun' endings that you can unlock by finding and using specific items during the game mode. These are as follows:

Dog ending

For the dog ending, you need to find three Coins in Part 1, Part 4, and Part 6 of the game, and input into the corresponding guide dog statues (which are found in the same Parts of the game that you find each Coin).

When it comes to the final Gold Coin, you'll need to approach the end of the game. After the CCTV command console puzzle and dropping the container in SWDP, you'll end up going along a network of hallways and ladders. In one of the red hallways, proceed straight ahead and provided you've done all steps correctly, there'll be a dog statue here to input the final Coin into. Then, finish the game as normal to receive the dog ending.

You can find detailed locations of each coin and guide dog bank in my Silent Hill Townfall endings guide.

Sci-fi-lent Hill ending

For the Sci-fi-lent Hill ending, you'll need to find all 15 Strange Postcards to reveal a code for a door in the upstairs Haldane Hotel (which you can only access during Part 2 of the game, when Simon is transported to the Otherworld version of St. Amelia).

By inputting this code, you'll claim the Strange Access Card. On top of that, you need to find three Strange Books during your playthrough that are in Part 1, Part 4, and Part 6 of the game. Once you have interacted with all three books and the Strange Access Card, you then need to use the Access Card on the Card Reader that's left of the final door in SWDP during Part 6 of the game.

After completing the sci-fi ending of the game at least once, you'll also unlock the Pistol 3000 ranged weapon to use during your next playthrough! This can be found in the same location as Simon's axe, except it's through the second door on the right in this alleyway (rather than the fifth).

For a more detailed overview of the code needed for the Strange Door, as well as where to find all three Strange Books, take a look at my Silent Hill Townfall endings guide. Otherwise, head back to our Townfall walkthrough.
