Surprise! Nintendo announced and then held a Pikmin Day Direct in the middle of the night last night, and it was a Pikmin Day Direct. There’s a Pikmin Day? I hear you ask. Well, there is now, and it’s November 1.
Why November 1? Because if you put the three red, yellow and blue Pikmin from the first game in a line, you get 11 and 1 as they stand. Look, whatever you say, Miyamoto, we trust you.
The Direct not only announced Pikmin Day going forward, but also gave some small updates on Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, with details about some of the new features in the game that were previously announced. A demo of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game will also launch on November 2, and progress can be transferred over to the final version. This is also the first Nintendo Switch 2 Edition demo we’ve seen.
Pikmin Bloom, however, is getting a big update, with Secret Caves being added to the game in a future update later this year. Pikmin Bloom will also be able to link up to Dandori Academy. If you do exams in that game, you’ll unlock special maps in Bloom.
There’s also a new series of Pikmin shorts coming. These short films will be rolled out monthly in the Nintendo Today app. They’re being produced in conjunction with Nintendo Pictures, like the Pikmin Close to You videos we’ve seen in the past.
