Cooking Crusade launches on Steam on September 17. It now also ships in Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese and more — which wasn't the plan a month ago.

Something changed since our last post

When we announced, the game shipped only in English. It now ships localized in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese and several other languages, 22 in total. For a two-person team that was the single biggest last-month decision we made, and it came down to a simple observation: a cooking sim doesn't have much text. Recipes, guest names, menu labels, a handful of tooltips. The work that would be impossible in an RPG turned out to be tractable here, and it opens the game up to players who'd otherwise have skipped it on the store page. Of course, we use AI to translate, we did it to cover as much as possible languages and audiency. If we'll get enough resources, we are glad to remake translations with professionals.

If there are any native speakers willing to play our game and evaluate the translation, we would be happy to provide a key.

What you'll be doing

You run the kitchen of a roadside medieval tavern. Pottage gets brewed from five ingredients in a cauldron. Ale gets poured from the barrel. Cold snacks get plated. Then you drag each dish onto the table of the guest who ordered it — and guests don't wait forever. That's the whole loop, and it stays deliberately hands-on. No appliances doing the work for you, no timers on the wall. One cauldron, a fire, and people who came in off
the road hungry.

Between the working days

Coins earned during service go into the things that make tomorrow survivable: a second and then a third cauldron so you can cook in parallel, a merchant's wagon that restocks the pantry between days, and a guest almanac that fills up as people visit, recording what each regular likes and how patient they are. There's also a hidden mode that unlocks once you reach the ending, and we're still not going to say what it is.

WISHLIST NOW !!!

If any of this sounds like your kind of thing, a wishlist helps us more than anything else right now — it's the main thing Steam looks at when deciding who to show a small game to.

See you in the tavern on the 17th.
